Nepal's Covid-19 toll reached 48 after three more deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. There were 139 new cases confirmed across the country.
The Health Ministry said three males, including one Indian national, died in the past 24 hours.
"The Indian man, 65, from Birgunj Metropolitan City ward 10 in Parsa district, was a heart and diabetes patient and was receiving treatment at the Birgunj-based Gandak Covid Hospitalwhen he died on Sunday," said Dr Jageshwor Gautam, during the ministry's regular press briefing on Monday.
Another deceased, a 36-year-old man from Sahidnagar Municipality ward 8 in Dhanusha, died while being taken to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan on Sunday. He was admitted to the emergency ward of Janakpur Zonal Hospital on Saturday after fever and respiratory problems and was referred to the BP Institute after his condition deteriorated.
The third victim, a 60-year-old male from Pheta Rural Municipality ward 3 in Bara district, died at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu on Monday. Dr Gautam said he had pneumonia, brain hemorrhage and kidney problems.
The ministry also confirmed 139 new cases in the past 24 hours to take the country's total to 18,752.
Samples of 28 individuals form Dailekh, 23 from Saptari, 20 from Parsa, 18 from Morang, 10 each from Dhanusha and Mahottari, six from Siraha, four from Baitadi, three each from Kaski, Kathmandu and Lalitpur, two each from Jhapa and Salyan, and one each from Banke, Dhankuta, Kavrepalanchok, Panchthar, Rupandehi, Sunsari and Surkhet tested positive during tests conducted at 27 labs across the country.
So far, 13,754 individuals have made successful recoveries after being infected with the coronavirus, which causes Covid-19. Dr Gautam said 626 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.
As many as 347,275 PCR tests have been performed in the country so far. Five districts—Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Rasuwa, Manang and Mustang—don’t have any active cases, Gautam said.
