Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,689 with 15 more deaths; national tally reaches 247,593 with 899 new infections

Nepal on Saturday reported 15 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,689 . The country also recorded 899 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 247,593 with 11,673 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 234,231 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,359 of them in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 482 new infections in the past 24 hours.
As of Saturday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 115,432. While Kathmandu has reported 441 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 132 and 97 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 863 individuals from Bagmati Province, 220 from Lumbini Province, 209 from Province 1, 205 from Province 2, 121 from Gandaki Province, 47 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 24 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Saturday, 1,825,860 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,242 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
Three districts—Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang does not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 262 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 41 others—12 in Bagmati Province, 11 in Gandaki, seven in Province 1, four in Karnali, three in Lumbini and two each in Province 2 and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported 11 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,044 new infections. Similarly, 12 deaths and 1,217 new infections and 14 deaths were recorded in the country on Thursday.
